Vancouver DrawDown Part 1

Last Saturday, June 14th, I participated in the Vancouver DrawDown and had a blast!  The event is to get everyone in the city drawing, (and facing the 'I can't draw' fear). There were over 40 workshops so it was hard to pick what to do!

I attended a 4 hour workshop with costume designer Sheila White at the Arts Club Theatre and learned a lot.  We warmed up with blind contour drawings, then drew classmates posing, then finally drew costumes from imagination.  With costume design, the sketches are working drawings, not precious works of art. They are meant to be done quickly, and should (hopefully) convey a sense of character, gesture and a clear idea of how the costume is cut, without being too detailed. These four drawings all took me 10-15 minutes each.
